KonMari Consultant Training
In NYC this summer I found “my people” as a participant in the first-ever USA KonMari Consultant Conference—three full days packed with organizing tips and insider info about the KonMari Method.
There were 75 of us, and we came from all over the U.S. and beyond (Australia, Scotland, and England). I’ve been an avid follower of Marie Kondo since I first read her best-selling book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying-up.” For me, it was life-changing. Completing the entire tidying process in my own home was very powerful for me, and it made me want to help others achieve the same satisfaction and peace. That’s when I decided to pursue a career as a professional organizing consultant.
At the conference I discovered such a kinship with my fellow attendees. Finally, I was with “my people” – individuals who believe in the positive impact of organizing. We shared our stories about the freedom of eliminating items we no longer wanted—guilt free.
Currently I am working toward the final steps of certification and hope to be a KonMari consultant by the end of 2016. My organizing philosophy is to have fun with my clients while helping them refine the items in their home. Together we can accomplish something important, something that doesn’t have to feel like a dreaded chore. For me, it comes down to this: when you declutter your living space, it’s invigorating to rid yourself of things you no longer need or want. When those items are physically removed from your home, you now have more space in your life for the people and things that truly make you happy. And it feels good.
